JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking an intelligent and conscientious person who is passionate about food.
The Kitchen Manager is accountable for ensuring that Cruze Farm’s kitchen staff carries out its mission of providing our farm-made products according to our standards. The manager does this primarily by equipping and educating staff, sourcing and ordering the best possible ingredients, managing inventories to ensure that menu items are always available, and working hand in hand with the Cruze Farm’s culinary director to improve menu items and develop new menu items.
You must have strong leadership skills, culinary knowledge, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Cruze Farm’s Food Philosophy: Cruze Farm serves humble quick food with the best available ingredients (traditionally made and full flavored) and tries to the best of its ability to feature ingredients from our own farm or from the farms of our neighbors.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Health and Safety Compliance: Ensuring the kitchen adheres to health and safety regulations, including food safety standards and cleanliness
Supervising Kitchen Staff (prep and line): Overseeing the performance of cooks and other kitchen employees to ensure smooth operations and communication.
Oversee our range of pre-packaged and re-packaged menu items (take home biscuits, bottled ranch, butter, cheese, granola, ice cream pies, ice cream novelties, cheese curds, packaged sandwiches and soups)
Maintaining Food Quality: Ensuring all food served meets Cruze Farm’s quality standards and customer expectations
Inventory Management: Ordering ingredients and supplies, managing inventory levels, and minimizing waste
Training and Development: Training new staff and providing ongoing development opportunities to existing staff
Updating kitchen-related SOP’s
Problem-Solving: Addressing any issues that arise in the kitchen promptly and effectively
Menu-Building: Collaborate with the Culinary Director to develop and maintain kitchen menu
Work with the General Manager to maintain payroll and food cost margins
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Experience: Several years of experience working in a professional kitchen, with at least some of that time in a supervisory role
Attitude: A glass half full mentality and an ability to tirelessly see challenges as opportunities and not as problems.
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities to teach and motivate kitchen staff, assist staff in resolving conflicts, and endorsing and encouraging a positive energy at work.
Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with staff, supplies, and other personnel
Problem-Solving Abilities: The ability to quickly identify and address issues that arise in the kitchen
Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed in a fast-paced environment
Guest-first mindset with a passion for southern hospitality
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
$35,000-$65,000
2 hours paid vacation accrued every 40 hours
