CRUZE FARM’S FOOD VISION:

A crucial component of Cruze Farm’s mission is to create great tasting quick and simple food that is made with the best available ingredients.  For us, the best available ingredients are those that are made in a traditional way, are fresh (or at their peak of flavor).

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking an intelligent and conscientious person who is passionate about food. 

The Culinary Director spearheads and cares for the continuous improvement of Cruze Farm’s dine-in and take-home food items. They do this by sourcing the best available ingredients, by equipping and training staff to prepare menu items consistently, and by developing and implementing rigorously tested new menu items that adhere to Cruze Farm’s Food Philosophy.

Cruze Farm’s Food Philosophy: Cruze Farm serves humble quick food with the best available ingredients (traditionally made and full flavored) and tries to the best of its ability to feature ingredients from our own farm or from the farms of our neighbors.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee BOH operations at Cruze Farm Locations: (Ensures that the Kitchen Manager understands and adheres to food management protocols and that menu items are made according to brand standard and that the restaurant is buying the best quality local ingredients that it can find)

  • Oversee the consistency and quality of our Take-Home Prepackaged and Repackaged food items in our merch areas

  • Work on New Product Development & Development Protocols (using the America’s Test Kitchen procedure for recipe development). A substantial part of this will include improving and workshopping familiar specials that we have done in the past but that require fine-tuning.

  • Communicate with Cruze Farm (the Farm and Processing Plant) about feedback received from customers and staff about issues or challenges with wholesale farm products.

  • Fine Tune process line organization at each ice cream shop 

  • Provide educational opportunities for staff seeking to learn more about food and cooking

  • Advising staff on educational opportunities available externally; this often would be scheduled stages (unpaid internships) at peer restaurants.

  • Obsessively search for the best available regional ingredients to use and feature in our menu items

  • Above all, this person must come to work every day asking themselves the question, “How can Cruze Farm’s food be better?”

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:

  • $50,000-$80,000

  • 2 hours paid vacation accrued every 40 hours worked

  • 401k match

  • Paid Maternity Leave
